| Pine needle art with mixed media |
| Uniquely designed woven and hand-sewn pieces ranging from traditional to contemporary styles. |
Pam Smith was born in Louisville, Kentucky. Although she studied various crafts over the years, it was not until 1979 that she found her niche. She saw a piece of Pine Needle Raffia Basketry while living in Idaho. This unique Civil War era art form captured her heart. She took private lessons to learn the basic techniques. Once she mastered them, she began creating baskets and teaching the craft throughout the Northwest. For years she was only able to pursue it as a hobby.
From her own unique design of traditional pieces to her works of contemporary style, she plans to leave these treasures one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces for all to enjoy for generations to come.
Pam is now devoted exclusively to her love of creating. Each and every piece of her work is hand-sewn and/or woven. Depending on the size and complexity, she may spend anywhere from one day to a few weeks on a piece. |
