Primitive folk art painting |
 |
| Emmy Houweling, a New Castle, Kentucky resident with an art studio in her ca.1820 historic home, is a self taught painter who was inspired by an 18th century Dutch itinerant folk artist, who drew pictures, cut them out and pasted them on colored paper and sold those to make a living. |

Watercolors |
 |
| While living in Hong Kong I had the opportunity to take watercolor classes. It didn't take long for me to fall in love with them. I like the challenge because if you know watercolors you know they are not always all that forgiving. I am a tight painter which means what you see is what you get. My favorite subjects are people and animals, with flowers, cars, and buildings close behind. I take my photos and then work off those. |

Watercolor |

| Painting with watercolor is an especially exciting and challenging experience. The fluidity of the medium seemingly lends itself to creativity. Frustration can be a frequent occurrence, but the excitement of success is all the more satisfying. |
